If you are using a quilting frame it can be homemade tack the bottom of the quilt to the frame face down. Take a look at your quilting pattern and use this info to your advantage.

How to finish a quilt with batting.
Some battings will specify an optimal quilting distance between rows of stitches.
Lay the top on the batting so all edges match evenly.
Lay the batting down and cut to size.

I have a thinner denser batting.
For example press the seams of the even rows to the right and the odd rows to the left.
Remember to keep the can 12 from the batting as you sweep side to side covering well with spray.
The backing is another 2 on each side adding another 4 to the batting size and 8 to the pieced top size so it is 48 x 68.
Your batting will be 2 longer and wider on each side so adding 4 to each measure makes your batting size 44 x 64.
Press the seams of your quilt to one side alternating directions.
Say that your pieced quilt top is 40 x 60.
This will allow you to nest your seams together as you sew the rows to each other.
Using a ruler and rotary cutter and the quilt top as a guide trim the excess batting and backing layers so that all edges of the quilt are the same.
Scrim describes a light layer or grid of woven fibers added to some cotton battings.
